Nice piece on the Surface, Harry. The one thing I've not been able to understand is how comfortable it would be either hunched over a desktop both typing and looking down into the screen or touching a screen to type that is hung in front of you. I saw the demonstration you were talking about on youtube earlier this year with photo manipulation, expanding and contracting and such and thought that demonstration was quite a wow. I'd like to see a similar one with somone using Word or Excel while sitting at such a device. That, to me, is its only possible sore point.
Harry-Go-Round is Harry McCracken's personal blog. If you're looking for one just about tech, try Techlog. Here I am in The New York Times. And for an excess of info about a lost 1930s cartoon character, visit Scrappyland.
